Professor Miller stood in the front of the brightly light room surveying the students in front of her. A group of Slytherins sat in one of the back corners glaring at a group of Gryffindors in the other. "This'll be an interesting class" she thought. Finally, she stood up and tapped her wand on her desk. Thunder clapped through the room. The entire class jumped to attention. "Good, I just wanted to get your attention. Its seems it worked," she smiled at the frightened looks. "My name is Professor Miller. I will be teaching you charms and spells both in theory and in practice. This will most likely be your most practical class, as all wizards will need to know the spells taught here on a daily basis. These spells can be practical and fun. They can make your lives easier if and only if you do them right. I'm here to make sure you learn them correctly. You can only pass this class if you learn to do them correctly and instantaneously because life doesn't wait for you to remember the right spell. You will know all the spells I teach you better than you know your own family or you won't pass. and I have no problem keeping you here until you learn each and every one of these spells." she smiled again "remember, this class is fun. IF you work hard. and if you don't..." she grinned "ah well lets hope it doesnt come to that. If during the year you have problems with anything my office is open for your problems. but for now, does anyone have any questions?"

Ellie, still tired from the ongoings of the night before at dinner, leaned back as Professor Miller finished her introduction. Hope she's right, Ellie thought, that this will be an easy class. Charms were without a doubt her favorite area of magic, and she was looking foward to another year to learn more charms and speels to cast ont he Slytherins...

On the note of homework. im sure most of you have heard Professor Davinski's speech on the topic. if you havent well he feels that hw is optional (but highly recommended). It's impossible to keep track of it all with people going on vacations, new people coming in and missing something, I can't take points off for just going on vacation. It's pointless. Same reason why I can't make homework mandatory. With real school starting as soon as the end of the month and of course all the real homework we have its just gonna be hard, having imaginary homework you'll no doubt make up on top of real life homework. Not to mention I have to correct it all and that's no fun. If you do it, I'll check it over, give you points, 1-10, maybe more, maybe less, depending on the quality of it. It prolly won't be due for at least a week so if you have time, cool. If not, don't worry. It's no big deal. It's just a way to get points. You won't be penalized for (or lack of) it. i dont want you to take this as a reason to not care b/c as i've mentioned if you dont pay attention in charms you could be hurt. this is not an easy class. dont assume it is. its up to you whether or not it'll be fun.

ok i see the class participation around here is limited. ok before class is over i'd like to introduce you to a fairly simple spell. this can be used in your daily life and is incredibly handy. *Professor Miller picks up her wand off the desk and looks at it while saying the word "Lumos" a light suddenly shone from the tip of her wand.* there arent any special movements required for it. just consentration. concentrate on the tip of your wand and say "Lumos" *she pauses for a second to look at the class* with conviction...you may practice it here until you leave for your next class. by our next class i would like you all to be able to do this spell w/o having to stare at your wand. and do it quickly and with ease. make sure your light stays on. flickering lights won't do when you're in a dark dungeon. that is all. *she smiled and sat down at her desk to look at some papers. "i'll let them off easy today. they better not expect me to be this nice the rest of the year" she thought. after another glance at the stack of papers she got up to examine the students struggling with keeping their lights on. many got their wands to light quickly but few could keep them up. "hmm...not bad. i just wanted to see how many of them had any talent or concentration. most of the kids this age have a problem w/ keeping their mind on something" she thought.*

*Gwen looks around the classroom and smiled. she was having a tiny struggle keeping the wand lit for a long amount of time but she was happy to find the she was keeping it lit the longest.* Winder how much home work we will have this year? * Gwen asked herself, now at the point she didnt have to pay much attention to her wand. She was sadend to see that every time Ellie lit her wand it would stay on longer and longer*

Loki concentrated hard on the tip of his wand and muttered, "Lumos" and watched as it stayed on. 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23... bloody hell! It had gone out again. The next time, Loki focused on another section of the room but concentrated again on the tip of his wand and said, "Lumos," willing it to blink on. When it did, Loki smiled proudly, not caring that it went out after a few seconds.
