Regaining composure quickly, Ellie grabbed a biscuit, dipped it neatly into the bowl of gravy, took a bite, and swallowed thoughtfully.
"Professor! Oh, I'd be happy to tell you, but first you must tell me if there is some sort of secret recipe to these biscuits," Ellie inquired, taking another bite. "They are truly exceptional."
She was relieved that Fred and George had their backs to Professor Davinski. They were doing all they could to hold back their laughter. Since the Slytherins were bound to tattle at some point, Ellie quickly excused herself from the situation, politely telling Professor Davinski that the twins had simply been giving Ron a hard time, which explained the sommotion at the Gryffindor table. When he asked her why some of the Slytherin students stormed out of the Hall so quickly, she came up with the perfect answer, hoping the twins would catch on quickly.
"What do you mean, they stormed out of the Hall?"
Ellie twisted her face into a very convincing look of disappointment. Fred read her mind, and turned around to confirm the situation.
"Blimey, they have! That's rotten luck, we didn't even have the chance to welcome them properly!" He heaved a huge sigh and stabbed his fork into the a galzed ham. "Take that, you stupid Slytherins, and that!"
Professor clearly thought Fred had gone mad, so George spoke up. "Have to make do with what we have, Professor."
Ellie noticed a few Slytherins watching them, and quickly wrapped things up. "That's quite a disappointment," she sighed. "Well, I think we'll be heading up to the Common Room now, if you don't mind." She gestured to Fred and George, who stood up with her to go.
"Yes, it seems as though we weren't able to carry through with our plans this time, Professor. I guess you got lucky this time, ey?" George nodded to Davinski, who eyed them curiously. "Good night!"
They walked down the length of the Gryffindor table, gathering a few of their friends to come along, since the Feast was slowly ending, and calmly left the Hall, chatting amongst themselves and laughing lightly. Once they were safely beyond the golden oak doors, Ellie collapsed on the main stairway in a dramatic show of relief. "Well that was bloody close!"
"Its a good thing one of you troublemakers has such a good head on their shoulders!" Angelina, one of the Gryffindor Chasers, leaned against the stone rail, cradling her head in her hand. "Who knows how many points Miss Slick here has saved us from losing points."
"I try!" Ellie laughed, walking up to the Common Room with her friends. It was going to be quite the year!
